Starting out – The prerequisites for fertility treatment

The following prerequisites must be fulfilled for medical conception support:
- For the absorption of costs through an health insurance it is an obligation for the couple to bemarried, but not necessarily.
- The patient/partner should be less than 40 year of age (exceptions up to 45 years) and sufficiently resistant to rubella.
- Her HIV Test must be negative.
- The lack of conception can not be rectified by other means.
- Only egg cells and sperm from the couple can be used.

Each treatment regimen is planned according to your individual needs. For this reason some cases may require a variation to the process of IVF treatment as described here.

First – preparation phase
Usually the treatment begins in the 2 nd half of the menstrual cycle before actual stimulation begins. By taking certain medications, so called GnRH Analogues, the body's production of fertility hormone will be temporarily reduced. We refer to this process as Down Regulation. In this way the stimulation cycle can be better controlled, a premature ovulation is prevented and the ideal time for ovulation can be selected.
